  • Here’s why now is the time for small cap stocks

    Roger Montgomery
    March 27, 2024

2023 saw the largest gap emerge between large-cap companies and small caps since the GFC. The question is, will this gap to close in 2024?

We are optimistic about Australian small caps, anticipating a highly favourable environment and outperformance. That gap offers greater growth than large caps, at relatively more attractive valuations. Continue…

What does TikTok have to do with Aussie supermarkets?

    March 26, 2024

The week of March 18, 2024 marked a significant legislative move as the U.S. House of Representatives endorsed a bill mandating the separation of TikTok from any affiliations with the Chinese government. The endorsement received substantial bipartisan support, with 90 per cent of Republicans and 75 per cent of Democrats voting in favour.  Continue…

  • The relentless growth of U.S. government debt

    David Buckland
    March 25, 2024

I was very lucky to attend the Harvard Business School Owner/ Presidents Management program over the three years to 2006. In my class of 100 mature–age students, around half were from the U.S., and the remainder were from several other countries. I know it is a gross generalisation, but it would be fair to say the U.S. students excelled at any “marketing” related case studies but noticeably under-performed in any case studies related to “accounting”.  Continue…

Ausbiz – Macquarie Technology (MAQ) a stock to watch

    Roger Montgomery
    March 22, 2024

In my recent interview with Ausbiz, I discussed the current favourable conditions for investing in smaller companies. Small caps have seen a commendable increase of about 4% this year, driven by a combination of disinflation and positive economic growth. This represents a pivotal shift in market dynamics, moving from fears of recession to a more optimistic view of a soft landing, which in turn boosts the attractiveness of innovative growth companies in the small-cap sector.

    Roger Montgomery
    March 22, 2024

Have you noticed this year’s improvement in market sentiment? Having intimated its possibility throughout 2023, global equities are now demonstrating a broadly robust rise.

Despite economic and geopolitical uncertainty, the Polen Capital Global Growth Fund’s portfolio has also demonstrated striking performance, with expectations for continued success through the cycle.

    Roger Montgomery
