What to make of KKR’s bid for Ramsay Health Care

As you’ve probably read in the press, a consortium led by US-based investment behemoth, KKR & Co, has just lobbed a $20 billion bid for Ramsay Health Care (ASX:RHC), Australia’s dominant private hospital business. This values each RHC share at an all-time high of $88, well above the previous day’s close of around $64. So it’s potentially good news for RHC investors – including The Montgomery Fund. Aeris Resources – drilling is the truth; and successful exploration is transformational

Aeris Resources (ASX:AIS) has had a successful drilling program and pleasingly increased its Copper production guidance at Tritton, about 50 kilometres north-west of Nyngen, Central NSW, from 19,000 tonnes in Fiscal 2022 to around 31,500 tonnes in Fiscal 2025, and importantly the life of the mine plan has been extended from three years to at least eight years. continue…

What rising cash rates mean

Since October 2021, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) has raised their cash rate on four separate occasions. On three occasions (6 October 2021, 24 November 2021, and 23 February 2022) the increase was by 0.25 per cent (to 1.0 per cent) and yesterday (13 April 2022) the increase was by 0.50 per cent (to 1.50 per cent). The last time the RBNZ moved their official cash rate by 0.5 per cent, was on 14 November 2001 – and the direction was downward to 4.75 per cent. continue…
