Why Polen Capital exited these positions in the December 2022 Quarter
Polen Capital
January 27, 2023
2022 was a challenging year in the market, particularly for growth stocks, and now we enter 2023 with the consensus expectation for a recession. Portfolio activity for the Polen Capital Global Growth Fund picked up during the fourth quarter of the year. Four long-term holdings were sold during the December 2022 quarter – Nike, Adidas, Starbucks, and Meta Platforms. Each of the exited positions were smaller weights within the portfolio, reflecting some concerns on outlook. continue…

The COVID-19 pandemic smashed the earnings of travel businesses across the globe. But here in Australia, Corporate Travel Management (ASX:CTD) not only withstood the tourism downturn – it was able to grow. With its share price still below the pre-COVID-19 level, and the business in great shape, Corporate Travel Management is a quality company with potential for much larger earnings growth in the years ahead. continue…

Is this as good as it gets for the ‘flying kangaroo’?
Roger Montgomery
November 29, 2022
Warren Buffett is no fan of airlines as an investment. He once wrote that “if a far-sighted capitalist had been present at Kitty Hawk, he would have done his successors a huge favor by shooting Orville down.” And I doubt he would change his mind when it comes to investing in Qantas (ASX:QAN). Although on face value the Aussie carrier looks to be going gangbusters, the numbers tell a slightly different story. continue…
