    Roger Montgomery
    May 30, 2022

In this interview for Sky News Roger joined Ross Greenwood to discuss interest rates. • Food and energy prices hurt living standards

    David Buckland
    May 30, 2022

In last Thursday’s Chanticleer, my friend Tony Boyd made the following stark observation: In Britain, the regulator warned the electricity price cap is likely to rise to GBP2,800 (A$5,000) from October 2022, a staggering increase of GBP1,500 (A$2,700) in 12 months. It is estimated there are about 6.5 million British households in fuel poverty, defined as spending 10 per cent of income on energy. Continue…

  • Introducing private credit and the Aura High Yield SME Fund

    Brett Craig
    May 26, 2022

In this presentation I introduced private credit as an emerging asset class for investors seeking reliable income. The Fund’s rigorous stress-testing and credit analysis of both the non-bank lenders and underlying SME borrowers have led to the Fund’s proven track record of capital preservation even throughout periods of asset price volatility, highlighting the key role private credit can play in an investor’s portfolio.

    David Buckland
    May 26, 2022

As I have detailed previously, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) has been relatively pro-active in its tightening cycle, commencing on 6 October 2021 and taking their official cash rate from 0.25 per cent to 2.0 per cent. Continue…

  • With oil & gas companies paying no tax, is it time to trigger the ADGSM?

    Andreas Lundberg
    May 26, 2022

For some years, there have been loud complaints that the Federal government has failed to deliver an effective energy policy that provides affordable, reliable and low-emissions electricity. This policy failure has resulted in soaring domestic energy prices. To make matters worse, oil and gas companies are paying close to zero tax. To my mind, it’s time for the new government to trigger the Australian Domestic Gas Security Mechanism. Continue…

  • With markets falling, is it safe to invest again?

    Roger Montgomery
    May 25, 2022

In the famed 1970s thriller, Marathon Man, Nazi dentist Dr Christian Szell – who is looking for a stash of stolen diamonds – repeatedly asks the character played by Dustin Hoffman “Is it safe?” Right now, many people are likely asking the same question about investing in the share market.
