This too will pass
Roger Montgomery
March 20, 2023
Market and finance commentators have expended enormous energy writing on the subject of the collapse of Silicon Valley, Signature and Silvergate banks, and the subsequent challenges faced by Credit Suisse. David Buckland
March 17, 2023
With the demise of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and the effect on Credit Suisse – its share price has declined 90 per cent in five years to CHF1.70 – I thought it appropriate to return to basics and dig a bit deeper into what constitutes a “Quality” business, also known as a “Compounding Machine.” Continue…

Aura Private Credit: Letter to investors 10 March 2023
Brett Craig
March 14, 2023
The RBA is “resolute in its determination to return inflation to target and will do what is necessary to achieve that.” Last week’s 25 basis point rise to the official cash rate, now sitting at 3.6 per cent, forms part of the RBA’s approach to reign inflation back into the 2-3 per cent target range, implying that further pain is ahead. Another U.S. Bank fails overnight. Now it’s three.
Roger Montgomery
March 13, 2023
Everyone’s talking about the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) – the largest bank failure since the global financial crisis – and debating whether it’s the start of another financial crisis. Continue…

Roger Montgomery
March 13, 2023

TPG offered to buy all the shares in IVC through a scheme of arrangement for $12.65 per share – a 40 per cent premium to its previous close. Based on a quick calculation, I think this is a pretty good deal for IVC shareholders. Continue…
