Why I’m still not convinced by the Bitcoin bulls
Roger Montgomery
March 12, 2021
I regularly pop on to Philip Clarke’s ABC Nightlife radio show to discuss, and answer questions on, investing and markets. This week, the board lit up with people wanting to ask about the topic du jour – Bitcoin. Is this explosion in interest a signal that Bitcoin is in bubbly territory, or a pointer that it’s here to stay? continue…

Why we continue to like Uniti Group
Roger Montgomery
March 11, 2021
David Buckland has been writing about telecommunications services company Uniti Group (ASX: UWL) since March 2019 – just a month after the company listed on the ASX, when the share price was about 20 cents. Today, Uniti shares are around $2.20. That’s better than the proverbial 10-bagger in just two years. And we think there’s more share price growth to come. continue…

Why you should be watching the bond yield curve
Roger Montgomery
February 24, 2021
In this week’s video insight Roger discusses why investors must keep a close eye on the bond yield curve and watch out for a sustained steepening, where long term bond rates rise. If the difference between short-term and long-term rates continues to widen, it keeps more pressure on central banks to buy long-dated bonds in an attempt to keep the yield curve flat.

Why I don’t think we’re headed for a correction
Roger Montgomery
February 9, 2021
Over the last few months, increased risk-taking by investors has led to ballooning prices for loss-making businesses, IPOs in unprofitable firms, and speculative ‘assets’ like cryptocurrency. This is usually a signal that the market is too hot, and is due for a correction. Is the market at risk of an imminent collapse? continue…

Joseph Kim
February 8, 2021
We enter the February 2021 reporting season with a materially different backdrop to the one faced by investors in August 2020. Expectations have been rebased significantly upwards – along with share prices – suggesting a more even risk-reward skew for share price direction in terms of upside/downside due to earnings surprises. continue…
