  • City Chic accelerates global expansion

    Dominic Rose
    January 18, 2021

In the week before Christmas, City Chic Collective (ASX:CCX) rewarded patient investors with what looks to be a highly strategic acquisition; securing the e-Commerce and wholesale assets of UK plus-size women’s retailer Evans from the Arcadia Group (debt-laden owner of Topshop) which recently entered into administration. • Why the global LNG price is heading north

    Andreas Lundberg
    January 15, 2021

Over the last couple of months, international LNG prices have been rocketing up. This is bad news for overseas consumers of our LNG exports and domestic consumers of gas, but could be positive for our gas producers and the Federal Budget, due to higher tax collections. The question is, how long will this run last? Continue…

The most-tipped small caps for 2021

    Gary Rollo
    January 14, 2021

Each year Livewire Markets readers tip their favourite small cap stocks. In 2019 the top 10 tipped small-cap stocks gained 43 per cent for the year, while 2020 lifted 6.8 per cent. Nearly 5,200 Livewire readers made submissions for this year’s top ten. Gary Rollo likes #3 PointsBet Holdings (ASX:PBH), the online bookmaker returned a nice 158 per cent during 2020. • The winners and losers of 2020

    Scott Phillips
    January 13, 2021

A lot will be written about events in calendar year 2020 and the impact COVID-19 had on many facets of our lives, not to mention the huge volatility in financial markets. Interestingly, when we look in isolation at the calendar year returns of the S&P/ASX 300 Accumulation Index (which includes the returns from dividends), the market was up a tiny 1.4 per cent. David Buckland
    January 12, 2021

In this week’s video insight David identifies why as investors we can only play what is in front of us. In reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, Central Banks have been printing money so Governments – which are running substantial deficits – can pay for financial assets, welfare programs, infrastructure and salaries for public servants.  Productivity reform is largely ignored, and together with ageing demographics and indebtedness, there is a handbrake to future economic growth. So, for 2021, what is in front of us?
