Ausbiz – Australia’s emerging $500 billion private credit opportunity
David Buckland
January 30, 2024
In my recent interview with Ausbiz, I discussed the opportunity for private credit, with the Reserve Bank of Australia identifying that it is a $500 billion opportunity. The brief loan durations and monthly pricing in the private credit sector offer investors flexibility and the potential for returns, ranging from 7.5 to 9.5 per cent annually. The attractiveness of this opportunity is further underscored by well-established track records, appealing yields, and robust security supporting the loans. Ausbiz – A deflationary surprise?
Roger Montgomery
December 1, 2023
In my recent interview with Ausbiz, I aimed to provide insights into prevailing economic trends, particularly focusing on the U.S. economy. It’s evident that the market sentiment has transitioned from recession concerns to the possibility of enduring inflation, a shift I believe might stem from potentially overreaching actions by the Federal Reserve to curb economic momentum. Additionally, I discussed the likelihood of the Australian economy already being in a recession and the potential impact on both the broader equity market and small-cap stocks in general. In this week’s interview on Ausbiz, I wanted to delve into the growing significance of data centers due to heightened AI demand and increased cloud expenditure, which is drawing striking parallels to the early days of smartphone adoption. Ausbiz – The market’s ‘weighty’ overreaction…
Roger Montgomery
November 13, 2023
In last week’s Ausbiz interview, I explored investor sentiment surrounding the latest GLP-1 medications, specifically on Ozempic and its implications for companies like CSL (ASX: CSL) and ResMed (ASX: RMD). While the drop in CSL’s share value suggests market concerns about competing Ozempic-style drugs, I argue that these anxieties may be unfounded. My perspective rests on the belief that such medications might not be as transformative in addressing the weight of the U.S. population as investors might anticipate and the affordability surrounding it. Ausbiz – Does the recent rally have legs?
Roger Montgomery
November 3, 2023
In this week’s interview with Ausbiz, I wanted to discuss the potential for a continued equity rally. I cited a report from a Canaccord strategist who believes the environment does set the stage for a further rally. This is partly because, in the strategist’s view, the U.S. economy will slow down very rapidly. In fact, they put the probability of a recession at 99.9 per cent, and with stocks outside of the Magnificent Seven already lower – the U.S. Bank equity index has already been smashed by 50 per cent – it’s way too late to be negative now. So is the bad news already priced in? Watch the full interview here Ausbiz – Does the recent rally have legs?
