Roger Montgomery’s Christmas Message 2020
Roger Montgomery
December 18, 2020
This Christmas I’d like to reflect on Community and Individualism. This year, I believe we have seen demonstrated, comprehensively, the failure of a society to deal with a crisis because the rights of the individual usurp the needs of the community. We want to be known for our individual accomplishments, for our abilities and at the extreme end of individualistic fame as highlighted by so much of social media – we simply want to be known for being known. Instead, we should be known for caring for others, for helping and for rescuing those in need. For putting others first and above ourselves.

Stuart Jackson
December 9, 2020

Universal’s focus on streetwear has helped to through this period. Full steam ahead for these two companies
Roger Montgomery
November 19, 2020
In this week’s video insight Roger discusses companies set to benefit from the news of a vaccine. Some of the companies that were beaten down during the pandemic – those we believe would inevitably recover once a vaccine was announced – have bounced, but they are yet to fully reflect a return to normal, or in some cases even a return to subnormal. One company to clearly benefit from higher levels of activity is Qantas, while another, Megaport recently reported high levels of connection activity following a COVID inspired slowdown in June and July. continue…

The eighth wonder of the World and the Montgomery Small Companies Fund
David Buckland
November 4, 2020
In this week’s video insight David provides an update on the performance of the Montgomery Small Companies Fund. While small capitalisation companies generally involve more risk because of their lower liquidity, their greater sensitivity to managements’ influence, and their greater sensitivity to economic conditions, they have proven over long periods of time to be a rewarding asset class to allocate capital – preferably for patient investors who grasp the power of compounding. continue…

Flying high – a remarkable track record
Gary Rollo
October 16, 2020
Back in 2002 Alliance Aviation Services (ASX:AQZ) commenced flying with just two aircraft. Today, the operating aircraft fleet size has grown to 43, with a further 14 new aircraft set to arrive in the next 12 months. AQZ’s business is literally flying! The company operates fly-in fly-out charter services for Australian mining companies and a range of ancillary aviation services, and has a strong track record of consistent profits and growth. AQZ delivered record profits in FY20 despite the global COVID pandemic. The aviation market is very cyclical, boom and bust, so how has Alliance developed such a remarkable track record? continue…
