Buy hold sell: The small-cap sectors to avoid (and where to invest)

Gary Rollo joined James Marlay and Josh Clark on Livewire’s Buy Hold Sell to discuss why when volatility is up, small caps invariably experience a fall. You can still remain invested in the market with high conviction buys and Gary covers the sectors worth attention and tactics for investors to take advantage of the sell-off.

Gary Rollo is the Portfolio Manager of the Montgomery Small Companies Fund. Gary joined Montgomery in August 2019 after spending three years at MHOR Asset Management in Sydney as a Founder and Portfolio Manager. Prior to this, Gary was a Portfolio Manager at Renaissance Asset Manager in Sydney for six years. Before moving to Australia, Gary spent five years in London running Morgan Stanley’s Technology Sector Equity Research Team, as well as two years covering technology companies for JP Morgan.

I have been investing and running my own SMSF for many years now.

Every day I devote one to two hours to reading investment advice from many different quality sources. I have listened to countless speakers over these years, both live and by podcast.

Today, at the age of 84, I can confidently say that in my opinion, there are very few of these advisers/speakers who consistently and reliably make sense of investing as a whole.

One of them who comes to mind is Mr Peter Thornhill who repeatedly for many years has proven that his philosophy of investment is both valid and fool-proof.

    His name: Mr Peter Thornhill

Please note: I have no personal or business affiliation with Mr Peter Thornhill.
