The Montgomery Fund 30 June 2022 Update

The Montgomery Fund performance was a story of two halves during the financial year ending 30 June 2022, with solid returns posted in the first six months, outperforming the market as measured by the S&P / ASX 300 Accumulation Index. However, with several macro challenges facing investment markets, we have delivered a negative return in the ensuing six months despite a broadly defensive portfolio. In this short video, Portfolio Manager Joseph Kim and Roger Montgomery discuss The Montgomery Fund’s performance, current market conditions and outlook. Our investment time frame remains many years, and with that in mind, we continue to seek positive risk-reward opportunities with high-quality companies where valuation is now even more favourable on longer-term dynamics.

I know you guys need to put out information about how your sweet of funds are travelling and as always the work the team put in to help us navigate turbulent times is of top quality.
Although the pain of seeing the Polen small companies growth fund tank has been disappointing and would have loved to have joined the fund now, best to dust our selves off and as you have done invest more like you say it’s sales time and makes sense to add at these prices but i do think it will be a long time to turn the ship but for someone just joining this particular fund i believe it’s definitely a great buy.
I also wanted to touch on the terrible war in the Ukraine not so much the war but the sad fact that all the powers on this very special and wonder of a planet are always hell bent on making and supplying so many weapons when they’re is so much poverty.
Hopefully there is someone who is working on a defensive mechanism out there so that any nuclear weapon that might be launched is either destroyed on launch or once in the air surly making the earth a much safer place and hopefully bring all nations on earth on friendlier terms wishful thinking hopefully there is a country working on something like this any thoughts on this Roger thanks again team.
