The Numbers Behind the Numbers
Tim Kelley
March 14, 2016
In this recent post I discussed some of the statistics behind investment outperformance, and made the observation that in recent years, the stocks selected for inclusion in The Montgomery Fund have outperformed the market only 54 per cent of the time. Scott Phillips
February 25, 2016

Spotting value in an uncertain climate
Roger Montgomery
January 27, 2016
We aren’t in the business of forecasting and it has no place in our investment process which last year delivered investors in The Montgomery Fund returns of more than 19 per cent against the stock market returns of just 2.8 per cent inclusive of dividends. At the beginning of 2015 we thought there wasn’t a lot of value around and lower returns should be expected. Even though we were right about the market’s aggregate return, it didn’t prevent the generation of attractive returns for investors. continue…

Any value out there at the moment?
Roger Montgomery
December 8, 2015

On a macroeconomic level the US Federal Reserve’s warnings of rate rises, followed by inaction, made uncertainty a given, while China’s deepening slowdown combined with a local chase for yield, set many investors up for a painful reckoning. continue…
