Auzbiz – How can investors navigate mixed signals?

Auzbiz – How can investors navigate mixed signals?

This morning on Ausbiz with Juliette Saly, we unpacked the confusing signals coming from global markets. Despite geopolitical turmoil, rising inflation expectations, and forecasts of rate cuts – which usually signal economic weakness – equity markets are hitting all-time highs, credit spreads remain narrow, and liquidity appears abundant.

I suggested this disconnect may be driven by easy money policies from central banks, even in the absence of formal Quantitative Easing (QE). Investors should tread carefully: while markets are buoyant, inflated valuations and blind faith in artificial intelligence (AI) driven growth could lead to disappointment. The key is to focus on quality companies with sustainable advantages, while resisting the urge to overpay.
