AUGUST 2025

August 2025 reporting season calendar

Australia’s reporting season is now underway, shifting investor attention from Trump’s tariffs and cheating on the golf course to company earnings, as well as their 2026 outlook statements.

The goal? Pinpointing sectors and businesses with the potential for genuine earnings growth. Even if Trump’s actions cause vibrations in the market, it will be the companies that can grow that will ultimately deliver the most attractive returns.

At Montgomery, our teams are eager to dive into the results, reassess portfolio positions, and uncover fresh investment opportunities. We’ll be sharing our insights and updates here on the blog and across our social channels.

This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your understanding of the companies in your portfolio and those on your watchlist. With a high volume of companies reporting over a short period, staying on top of key announcements requires preparation.

To help you navigate this busy period, we’ve included a reporting season calendar below.

What are professional investors looking out for?

Australian investors are prioritising earnings quality, credible financial year 2026 guidance, and disciplined capital management amid a backdrop of tepid economic growth and fading rate cut hopes. Companies will be judged not just on their financial year 2025 performance, but on the realism of their outlooks – particularly around margins, revenue visibility, and cost control. Sector-specific concerns are prominent, from inventory and demand trends in the retail sector to loan quality in banks and cost discipline in mining. Investors are especially focused on balance sheet strength, dividend sustainability, and strategic clarity, with a low tolerance for weak guidance, vague outlooks, or capital missteps.
